This book was fantastically funny! You know how it seems like there are always good stories of little hiccups to tell when you get back from vacation? Well, this is more like a gigantic burp from Godzilla or something! Having driven several times from Indiana to Florida myself, I am so very glad that I have never had to deal with any of the issues they experienced! I can't imagine having to deal with a wrecked vehicle before you even get to your vacation destination, but the family takes it all in stride. They figure that their van can look like junk, it just needs to have a working engine to get them there and back home. The fact that they connect all of their misfortune to a pair of khaki pants is just awesome, especially the way that the story is ended. Short but fun read. I truly hate it when everything seems to go wrong on a trip. It definitely happened to the family in this story.

Khaki Pants is a short story, easy to read and well written. It is not boring. It takes you right to the story. As the family goes on vacation, many terrible accidents happen, tires coming off the vehicle, bed bugs, skin rashes, and forgotten keys. These are attributed to the khaki pants worn during the vacation. They believe they are cursed. They will pay attention not to wear them again on their next vacation. I enjoyed it.
Short story about a family vacation that goes terribly awry. A couple headed from Michigan to Florida on a car vacation with their son and nephew run into every kind of bad luck imaginable. Beginning with a swerve to avoid a pothole, this family endures one misfortune after another. Though the story is a largely predictable, it is written in a conversational, breezy tone that forces the reader to cheer the family on and dread what they suspect will happen next.
This story is family friendly; it would make an enjoyable family read aloud. Children ages eight and older should be able to read independently and enjoy the humor of what the author calls, "The National Lampoon Vacation." Recommended for anyone look for a short, relaxing read.
